"If you're thinking about using State Farm for insurance, don't. My family has had State Farm for years & just recently had our first homeowners claim. We have had nothing but issues dealing with State Farm, from lack of communication to now not wanting to pay our claim amount. They referred us to a preferred water remediation company who guessed on our materials (flooring) but used that as a basis to determine our replacement values even after showing proof of purchase for previous materials. Didn't send out an adjuster for 2 months & are now claiming the measurements are less than what the water remediation company provided so they are denying to pay for those areas. When asked to see the measurements the field adjuster provided, that request has been denied. Although State Farm may be cheaper monthly, they will cost you thousands if you ever have a claim. Oh, & I did call my agent to see if they could help us at all, & have not heard a thing back from them either. Save yourself some heartache & get insurance literally anywhere else. Edit since I cannot respond to my agent's response: Water damage is covered under my policy regardless of the source. If State Farm had the opportunity to deny our claim entirely, they absolutely would have. Let's not pretend the circus my family has been put through for over 2 months was some sort of favor. Additionally, your response shows your complete lack of understanding of the issues we are having even though I called & thoroughly explained to Billy well over a month ago. Just a clear reminder that agents are here to collect money, not actually take care of customers."
